Engage in a Patriotic Craft - Create a Compostable Bird Feeder!
At Earth’s Natural Alternative, we believe in celebrating our patriotism while taking steps towards a sustainable future. We are excited to share with you a wonderful craft idea that combines both these values: creating a patriotic bird feeder using eco-friendly compostable bamboo cups. Join us in spreading joy to our feathered friends while promoting eco-consciousness!
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create your own bird feeder:
Materials Needed:
Eco-friendly compostable bamboo cups (available here)
Peanut butter (preferably unsalted and organic)
Sunflower kernels (or any birdseed of your choice)
Twine or string
Craft glue or hot glue gun (if desired)
Patriotic decorations (e.g., red, white, and blue ribbon, stickers, or paint)
Prepare the bamboo cups
Using a craft knife or scissors, carefully cut a small hole near the bottom of each cup.
Assemble the bird feeder
Cut a long piece of twine or string, approximately 1.5 to 2 feet in length.
Thread the twine through the hole at the bottom of each cup, leaving enough excess twine on both ends to tie securely.
If desired, use craft glue or a hot glue gun to reinforce the twine's attachment to the cups.
Cover the cups with peanut butter
Apply a layer of peanut butter to the outside of each cup, avoiding the feeding opening.
Cover the cups with sunflower kernels
Roll the peanut butter-coated cups in a bowl of sunflower kernels, gently pressing them to ensure they stick to the peanut butter.
Done!
Now you have an eco-friendly bird feeder ready to attract and nourish our feathered friends while showcasing your patriotic spirit! Remember to regularly refill the cups with birdseed to keep the birds coming back for more.
