Sustainable Resolutions

Every year people talk about making New Year’s resolutions. It becomes a ritual that people only keep for a few months and slowly it is forgotten about. A resolution requires you to make daily changes in your routine, habits and schedule. That is why it becomes challenging when you try to make changes that are too unrealistic for your schedule or too time consuming. The sustainable resolutions listed here do not require a lot of time and will only involve small changes in your daily habits that can make a huge impact on the environment.

Stop Using Plastic Bags When Shopping

When you go to the grocery store, remember to take a reusable tote or bag with you. If you are like me and go to the store directly from work leave a tote in your purse, car or bicycle.

Consider Eating Less Meat and Know Where Your Meat Comes From

When you purchase meat make sure to look for organic or sustainable sources. Consider having one or two days a week where you don’t eat any meat and test out some veggie recipes.

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Purchase a reusable water bottle such as the ENA Stainless Steel Water Bottle and bring it with you to work, events or while out.

Bring Your Own Reusable Straw or Use Paper Ones

When you purchase a beverage outside of your home that requires a straw consider bringing your own, either a reusable one or a paper one. The ENA Paper Straw is super strong and reliable.

Create Less Food Waste

Make sure to use all the food you purchase. Be creative and think outside the box of what meals you can make from what you already have at home. Have some fun with it!

Buy Less and Throw Out Less

Don’t just throw out something because it is old. Try to repurpose it or clean it to keep it fresh. If you have to purchase something new buy better quality for a longer lasting life.

Use Natural and Sustainable Cosmetics

Buy cosmetics that are sustainable, cruelty free and don’t test on animals. Always check the labels and do your research before purchasing.

Use Greener Transportation

If you can try to car pool, take public transit or bike to where you need to be. Consider an eco friendly car when purchasing a new one.

Take Shorter Showers

Time yourself in the shower and see how long you take. Try to make your showers less than 8 minutes each day. Also, shorten the time you leave your shower running while not it in, count this time towards your under 8 minute shower.
