Donate to Your Favorite Green Non-Profit this Holiday Season
The Holiday Season is here! In the theme of giving, why not add one more recipient to your gift list, Mother Earth. This is a great time to contribute to a charity or non-profit organization that puts efforts towards a greener future. There are a lot of eco non-profits out there, but here are a few we support and suggest.
Wildlife Conservation Network. This charity aids endangered species by working with wildlife conservationists to ensure wildlife and people co-exist in a sustainable way. WCN has saved endangered species around the world by granting scholarships, supporting special projects, and directly supporting wildlife conservationists. Donate or sign up for the WCN newsletter at www.wildnet.org.
The Conservation Fund. From land, to water, to climate and more, the Conservation Fund has been working to protect and support Earth since 1985. They’ve helped save over 8 million acres, protect wildlife, provide climate change solutions, and conserve and restore the environment. Your donation benefits America’s land, water, and communities. Learn more here, www.conservationfund.org.
Greenpeace. Greenpeace works to address global threats to the environment. Through advocacy and peaceful protest, they shed light on important environmental issues such as global warming, destruction of ancient forests, detonation of forests, and the threat of nuclear disaster. Their “Take Action” page allows you to easily add your name to support green causes. Give to Greenpeace and Take Action at www.Greenpeace.org.
EcoTrust. EcoTrust partners with local communities to put bold, transformative ideas into action. They create and accelerate innovations connecting economic opportunity to environmental well-being. They operate out of the Northwest US, helping to inspire and preserve some of America’s greatest treasures. Learn more at www.Ecotrust.org.
The Sierra Club. My personal favorite, the Sierra Club aims at all aspects of saving the planet, from protecting wildlife to political involvement to alter this country’s eco-guidelines. It is America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, started by one of America’s most influential environmentalists in history, John Muir. Sign petitions, give monthly, or purchase a green gift from their gift store on www.SierraClub.org.
